Men In Care

Aim:
To build participant knowledge and skills with regard to Men Working in Care.
Objectives:

  • To look at the role of men in care work
  • To look at safer caring for Men In Care
  • To explore the idea of the 'positive male role model'
  • To identify ways in which men can work effectively with children and young people.
  • Examine how gender influences child care work
  • Consider the role of men in work with children who have been sexually abused
  • Help identify why sexism must be challenged and how to do this effectively

Training Method
Tutor input, Question and answer session, Group work Case Studies, Practice of skills
Course Materials
All participants will receive a course booklet containing all the key ideas and support material covered on the course.
Course length

1 Day, 10am - 230pm.

Suitability

This course is suitable for Residential Care Staff, Care Support Staff, Foster Carers, Social Workers, Teachers and Learning Support Assistance.
