Part 1

Aim:
• To build participant knowledge and skills in working with Parent & Child placements.
Objectives:

  • Explore the different needs of Parent & Child Placements
  • Reflect on issues around providing day to day care in a safe manner
  • Explore the reasons why Parent & Child Placements work
  • Develop skills and knowledge in completing parenting assessments

Training Method
Tutor input, Question and answer session, Group work Case Studies, Practice of skills
Course Materials
All participants will receive a course booklet containing all the key ideas and support material covered on the course.
Course length

1 Day, 10am - 230pm.

Suitability

This course is suitable for Residential Care Staff, Care Support Staff, Foster Carers, Social Workers, Teachers and Learning Support Assistance.

Part 2

Aim:
To build participant knowledge and skills in working with Parent & Child placements.
Objectives:

  • To develop skills regarding observing and recording
  • To understand about the court process and the carers role within this
  • To understand about the practical aspects of working with Parents and Children
  • To explore how different personalities and approaches can impact on Parent and Child placements.
