Aim:
To support people to develop their knowledge and skills in working with looked after children in education.
Objectives:
- To further promote carers support for the educational development of children placed with them, including their understanding of PEPs as helping to identify the potential of a looked after
child/young person
- To look at ways of supporting learning, including discussion of homework and projects, library and internet use and related attendance at cultural events
- To look at the relationship between PEPs and a childs local authority review, including the Every Child Matters framework
- The carers roles, including parents evenings and other interactions with schools/colleges, in implementing PEPs
- The input carers can make, in cooperation with other professionals in shaping a PEP
- To look at the links as a child grows, with Pathway Plans
- How carers can help advance children's education in practice, in partnership with schools/colleges, and that both carers and children/young people placed with them appreciate the place PEPs have
in educational development

Course Materials
All participants will receive a course booklet containing all the key ideas and support material covered on the course.

1 Day, 10am - 230pm.
