- To explore reasons why children become unaccompanied asylum seekers and refugees.
- To explore the impact of the "refugee-making process" on unaccompanied asylum-seeking and refugee children.
- To familiarise carers with the asylum-seeking process for unaccompanied children.
- To introduce the legal framework for the care and protection of unaccompanied asylum-seeking and refugee children.
- To explore the role of carers in the care and protection of unaccompanied asylum-seeking and refugee children.
- To prepare carers to help them provide quality care for unaccompanied asylum-seeking and refugee children.
Objectives:
- To have an improved understanding of the experiences and meaning of being an unaccompanied asylum-seeking and refugee child
- To have an increased awareness of the needs of unaccompanied asylum-seeking and refugee children
